Reading the dates
End of support means no more security updates: the machine keeps working and quietly accumulates unpatched vulnerabilities, which is why insurers and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials treat unsupported operating systems as an automatic fail. Windows consumer editions can buy one year of ESU beyond the date shown; enterprise ESU runs longer, at a price that doubles annually by design. Apple publishes no formal dates, so the macOS rows follow its observed pattern of supporting the newest three versions; treat them as estimates.
